Witkos, Miner, Martin Discuss Economic Growth with Litchfield County Realtors and Homebuilders
January 31, 2018TORRINGTON – State Senators Kevin Witkos (R-Canton), Craig Miner (R-Litchfield), and Henri Martin (R-Bristol) were featured speakers at the Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. Legislative Night, hosted in partnership with the Homebuilders Association of Northwest Connecticut on Monday January 29.
The state senators (pictured in the attached) joined fellow lawmakers, including Representatives Whit Betts, Jay Case, Michelle Cook, Brian Ohler, John Piscopo, William Simanski and David Wilson, to provide a legislative update and discuss state issues that are impacting realtors and homebuilders throughout Litchfield County.
“Lawmakers need to focus our efforts on making Connecticut more attractive to businesses and families alike,” said Sen. Witkos. “We have a great state, but there is much work to do to get our economy moving forward to encourage job growth to not only stop people from leaving our state, but to attract new families and development to Connecticut. I want to thank the Litchfield County Board of Realtors and the Homebuilders Association of Northwest Connecticut for giving lawmakers an opportunity to discuss these issues with the people who work hard every day to bring growth and development to our state.”
“It was a pleasure to speak with homebuilders and REALTORS from Northwest Connecticut,” said Sen. Miner. “Lawmakers cannot craft good policy without the input from businesses and stakeholders in the industry, so this forum was particularly helpful heading into the next legislative session. I hope the people who heard me and my fellow legislators speak fully understand that the Senate Republican Caucus is doing everything in our power to attract investment and improve quality of life in Connecticut.”
“I believe that realtors’ and homebuilders’ experiences serve as a bellwether for the marketing and fiscal direction our state is heading. A poor housing and building market are signs of a stagnant economy,” Sen. Martin said. “We need to make changes that will stabilize and grow our economy and make it an inviting place for businesses and families. We have to give realtors and homebuilders a Connecticut they can sell.”
