Fasano Statement on January Consensus Revenue Estimates

January 17, 2018

Hartford Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement regarding new consensus revenue estimates released today by the Office of Policy and Management and the Office of Fiscal Analysis.

“It’s disappointing to see more of the same signs of a sluggish economy that continues to restrain growth in Connecticut. Our state remains well behind the progress of other states as a result of the failed policies of Governor Malloy and legislative Democrats. This is exhibit A of the same problems Connecticut has faced for years that are still lingering and hurting our state, our economy, our job opportunities and our families. Connecticut is stuck in neutral, and this shows the need for even further pro-growth economic policies and more significant structural changes moving forward. What we need to focus on is how to address these problems while still protecting and prioritizing the core functions of government. I look forward to bipartisan discussions to address the deficit together, and I hope to see willingness from Democrats to consider cost saving measures they have shied away from in the past.”
