Why is Governor Malloy delaying a bipartisan fix to the Medicare Savings Plan?

The good news is that Republicans and Democrats have agreed to budget changes that will restore funding to the Medicare Savings Plan. This means that the 113,000 low income seniors and disabled patients who would have lost state assistance will be covered.

I believe we should act as soon as possible to restore this funding.

The bad news is that Governor Malloy will not call legislators into special session so that we can fix this problem. All he needs to do is sign a few papers, but he is unwilling to do that.

I can’t understand why.

Thankfully, the Governor’s reluctance to call a special session is not the end. I joined Republican and Democrat legislators signing a petition asking the Secretary of State to call a special session. With a few more signatures, we can fix this problem before the end of the year.
