With the holidays and Christmas right around the corner there are many organizations that are out and about helping our neighbors in need. This week I would like to spotlight the Enfield Police Department and the dedicated work they have been doing in our town for the past 62 years.

Along with their day-to-day police duties, for 62 years the Enfield Police Department has sponsored the Toys for Joy campaign. Each year the Enfield Auxiliary Police and the Enfield Police Explorers collect toys and games for local families with children ages 4 to 8 that are in need this holiday season. This year they are working to hit a goal to help over 1,200 local children.

While many of us are extremely fortunate, not all children will be waking up to a gift under the tree on Christmas morning. The good news is there are ways in which we can all lend a helping hand during this holiday season.

Even though Toys for Joy is a seasonal fundraiser members of the community are encouraged to stop by the police station at any time throughout the year to drop off unwrapped gifts for children. For more information call 860-763-6400.

In addition to collecting gifts for children throughout the year the Enfield Police Department hosts their annual Stuff a Cruiser event.

Make sure to mark your calendars for the annual toy drive which takes place right outside the Enfield Square Target. Help the Enfield Police Department Stuff their Cruiser!

Donations of Toys and Games may be brought to the Enfield Target on the following dates:

  • Friday, Dec. 15th 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 16th 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 17th 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Stop by the Enfield Square near Target and help a family in need so that our local kids and families can celebrate the holidays in good cheer.

From my family to yours, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
