Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) helps to distribute food during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!

The Town of Enfield would like to remind residents of a few helpful hints and town regulations when winter weather heads our way. In addition to the Everbridge notification system, the Department of Public Works utilizes a number of other media outlets to notify the public of parking bans and sidewalk snow removal obligations. You can also log-on to the town’s website at www.enfield-ct.gov or follow the Enfield Department of Public Works on Twitter at @EnfieldDPW.

Did you know that the Department of Public Works also provides a number of sand barrels throughout town? This sand is meant for residential use only and you can find a full list of sites on the town website.

Owners or occupants of any building or land bordering a public sidewalk are also required to remove all snow, sleet and ice within 24 hours after the completion of a storm.

Parking Bans are also common during the winter months. While these parking bans are in place no motor vehicles may be parked on a public street or highway in town during a snow or ice storm that has an accumulation of more than 3 inches. Parking bans may also be put in place to facilitate snow removal on town roads.

The Department of Public Works would also like to advise residents about the schedule for trash and recycling during the holiday season.

  • Thanksgiving: Residents with Thursday pickup will be picked up on Friday, November 24th.
  • Christmas and New Year’s: Pickup for all residents for both weeks will be delayed by one day. Monday trash pickup will be on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup will be on Wednesday, Wednesday pickup will be on Thursday and Thursday pickup will be on Friday for both weeks.

Additionally, the Transfer Station will be closed on November 23rd, December 25th, December 26th, January 1st, and January 2nd.

The last day for Friday yard waste collection will be Friday, December 1; yard waste collection will resume in the spring of 2018.

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
