Senator Kissel Releases Statement Re: Gov. Malloy’s Budget Reductions

November 19, 2017

HARTFORD, Conn. – Today State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) released the following statement regarding the distribution of state budget lapses proposed by Governor Malloy. One of the towns with the largest cuts is the town of Enfield, with a reduction of $2.3 million.

“I am extremely disappointed by the governor’s actions, a $2.3 million cut to Enfield is devastating,” said Sen. Kissel. “For the first time in many years the legislature came together and agreed on a bipartisan budget, but instead of listening to the legislature the governor has decided to try and cut municipalities and ignore the legislature’s intent. This is unacceptable. I believe that the targeted savings and specified cuts that were contained in our bipartisan budget were best for our state. I will continue to work with both sides of the aisle to stand up for our towns and the residents who live here.”
