Wednesday Hearing in Hamden on “Heroes Tunnel” building project

October 16, 2017

A public hearing on the “Heroes Tunnel” Wilbur Cross Parkway building project will take place Wednesday, Oct. 18th at Hamden Town Hall, 2370 Whitney Avenue.

State Department of Transportation officials will be on hand to discuss the project – beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A formal presentation will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Residents, commuters, business owners and other interested individuals are encouraged to attend the meeting to discuss plans for the tunnel that passes through parts of Hamden, New Haven and Woodbridge.

The tunnel, previously known as the West Rock Tunnel, was renamed the Heroes Tunnel in 2003 to honor “heroes of all kinds” in the post-9/11 era.

Structural and draining deficiencies along with general deterioration and other substandard characteristics necessitate either tunnel rehabilitation or replacement.

Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact David Cutler at (860) 594-3210 or by e-mail at[email protected].
