On September 25, lawmakers and state officials joined together to break ground at Victoria Gardens in Waterford, the site of a new construction of 90 units of elderly housing, including 72 affordable rental housing units.

“It is exciting to see this project begin in Waterford, a project which has the potential to help many seniors attain affordable housing so they can age-in-place,” said State Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme). “Connecticut’s senior population is growing, but many seniors often find themselves unable to afford living on their own. This development is a positive opportunity for our community and I look forward to seeing many seniors in Waterford find homes in this development once completed.”waterford2

The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority awarded low-income federal tax credits to Victoria Gardens to help develop the affordable housing units. Victoria Gardens was one of six locations selected to receive these credits in 2016.
