September 15, 2017

HARTFORD, Conn. – Today State Senator Heather Somers (R-Groton) released the following statement regarding the Senate approval of the Senate Republican Budget. A budget that increases education funding, funds core social services, prioritizes transportation and includes substantial structural changes.

“I first would like to acknowledge the courage of all of the Senators today that stood up and took the rights steps for the state of Connecticut’s fiscal future,” said Sen. Somers. “In a bipartisan fashion the citizens of Connecticut are looking to a more prosperous future and a Connecticut that is heading in a positive direction. I was pleased to cast my vote in the affirmative today, for a common-sense budget that doesn’t raise taxes on the hard-working families of our state, and a budget that makes the much-needed structural changes to turn our state around.”

The Senate Republican Budget now moves to the House of Representatives for a vote.
