Local Manufacturing Apprenticeship Opportunities Expanded

The Eastern CT Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative has expanded its training offerings to include a 5-week, 150-hour Design & Drafting program.

The curriculum will focus on design & drafting skills, blueprint reading, technical writing, math, and Six Sigma. Two additional classes are scheduled to start later this year. The Design curriculum was developed by officials from the Marine Draftsmen’s Association and Electric Boat management, the Pipeline’s principle employer sponsor; in collaboration with Three Rivers and Grasso Tech.

What is the Eastern CT Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative?

The program is designed for unemployed and under-employed individuals and provides options such as short-term classroom training, online manufacturing training, and job search assistance.

The CT Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship Training recently recognized the Pipeline program as a as a quality pre-apprenticeship program. This recognition will result in Pipeline training program graduates being awarded credentials as part of the state’s advancement of Registered Apprenticeship programs to various manufacturing employers in the region. This means Pipeline training graduates will now have the opportunity to apply to be a Registered Apprentice in the state!
