(From Left to Right) State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) hosts Senator Kissel and Friends with special guests from the Enfield Police Explorers – Enfield Police Department Lieutenant Willie Pedemonti, Lt. Explorer Sawyer Beck and Explorer Anna-Renee Labak.

While it is hard to believe we are more than half way through the 25th year of Senator Kissel and Friends on Enfield Public Access TV – these 25 years have been filled with many fantastic guests including my guests for this week. Earlier this week I had the pleasure of having the Enfield Police Explorers on the show –they were extremely impressive.

Did you know that the Enfield Police Explorers organization is the second oldest in the entire country – second only to the Los Angeles Police Department. The Enfield Police Explorers are also extremely well respected throughout the entire state – helping towns who are just starting their explorer programs organize. I was also impressed to hear that the Enfield Police Explorer program operates without any aid from the state or the town – functioning from donations only.

On the show with me I had Enfield Police Department Lieutenant Willie Pedemonti, who oversees the entire explorer program and has done an excellent job for the past eight years. We also had two current explorers join us – Lt. Explorer Sawyer Beck who is off to serve our country in the Marines in a few months and Explorer Anna-Renee Labak who will be starting her junior year in high school. Both of these explorers expressed how the Enfield Police Explorers program has helped them develop into successful young people and helped them improve their communications skills. I was also very impressed with how young both of these individuals joined the program – Sawyer joined at 13 and Anna-Renee joined at 14. To join such a respected organization at such a young age is inspiring to say the least.

This year the Enfield Police Explorers will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary as a program and to celebrate this milestone they will be having a 50th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, September 30th at the Sun Valley Beach Club in Stafford starting at 6:00 p.m. All former and current Enfield Police Explorers and their families are invited to attend – to R.S.V.P please email Lt. Pedemonti at [email protected]. Please help spread the word.
