A “double dip” by the state to tax you twice?

August 11, 2017

Earlier this week, I brought to your attention the attempt by state bureaucrats to slap a new tax on CT home heating oil.

Today, I am attaching a recent News 8 video about this new tax, or as the bureaucrats call it, a new “Conservation Fee”.

As the state oil dealers trade group notes in the story, “We truly believe that because consumers are already contributing to these funds through their electric bill, there should not be a double dip by the state to attempt to tax them a second time.”

Many of you, like me, are OPPOSED to a new CT tax on heating oil.

Please continue to do the following:

  1. Email a brief comment to [email protected] saying “I OPPOSE a new tax on CT heating oil!”
  2. Copy me on the email at [email protected]
  3. Include your name and town
  4. Share this information with taxpayers and heating oil users so they can speak out
  5. Attend one of the upcoming Public Hearings on the CT heating oil tax proposal:
  • Aug. 14 at Webb Hall at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic.
  • Aug. 16 at Housatonic Community College Bridgeport
  • Aug. 21 at Fort Trumbull State Park in New London
  • Aug. 29 at City Hall in Torrington
  • Sep. 6 at DEEP headquarters in Hartford
  • Sep. 7 at CT Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven

All hearings start at 6:30 p.m.

Please join me in saying “NO!” to this new tax!
