Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) and Senator Heather Somers (R-Groton) recently attended the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfast that took place on June 27 at the Norwich Holiday Inn.

The chamber breakfast allowed a group of bipartisan lawmakers from Southeastern Connecticut to meet directly with community members and businesses to discuss what’s happening at the state Capitol and the concerns of local communities.

“The Legislative Committee for the GNAAC has been working hard to increase and facilitate the flow of communication between members and their local legislators,” said Sen. Formica. “I applaud them for their efforts in putting together this event to allow for such an open dialogue between lawmakers and constituents.”

“This was an important way to communicate directly with local community members, employers and workers about what’s happening in state government that affects them,” said Sen. Somers. “Great event and excellent way to keep the public and legislators informed on important issues.”

Following the legislative breakfast, the senators also met with students from the GNAAC leadership program.  LEAD – Leadership Exploration & Development Program helps develop knowledgeable, committed, and action-oriented leaders in the local community.
