End Hunger in Connecticut Announces Free Summer Meals for Kids and Teens in North-Central Connecticut

July 11, 2017

SummerMealsSun 193Did you know that 13.9 percent of Connecticut residents are food insecure and 6 percent are very food insecure? That is why food programs that help out children and families, even during the summer months are so important to our communities.

The 2017 Summer Lunch Program locations have been announced. These summer meals are free and nutritious meals and snacks that are provided to kids and teens, 18 years of age and younger. The meals are provided throughout the summer months while school is out. Summer meals meet federal nutrition guidelines and are comprised of milk, fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats and other protein.

This is a federally assisted meal program – no paperwork, no registration and no identification is required.

While there are many good programs for students during the school year, kids still need good food even when school is out. I am thrilled that we have three locations in North-Central Connecticut this year to make sure children in need have access to nutritious meals. New locations are announced every day so make sure to check the website at www.endhungerct.org or call 860-560-2100 for more information.
