Sen. Formica greets a local veteran and member of the American Legion Rivers-Janowicz Post 138 at the Bozrah flagpole dedication ceremony on July 7.

State Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) was honored to join American Legion Rivers-Janowicz Post 138 at the Maples Farm Flagpole Dedication ceremony in Bozrah on July 7. The ceremony was held to dedicate the new flagpole to those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

“Raising this flag pole is an important symbol of our pride and respect for our great nation and all those who have served and sacrificed. I was honored to be a part of this ceremony with many members of the Bozrah community including many brave veterans. I hope that all who look upon this flag today, tomorrow and for countless years to come will remember all that we have to be thankful for in our country thanks to the selflessness of those who protect us every day,” said Senator Formica.

The flag pole ceremony was made possible by the generosity of many donors. The flag was given in memory of Abraham Schneider to honor and remember his service to the American Legion Post 138 as Commander and dedicated member. It was donated by his children Paula Geligoff, Raymond Schneider and Rita Kinstler.

Special guests included former United States Representative Samuel Gejdenson, National Guard 1109th Theater Aviation Support Maintenance Group, and the Fields Memorial Middle School Marching Band.
