Hartford – On May 17, Deputy Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) attended Manufacturing Innovation Day at the state Capitol. Lawmakers gathered to hear directly from manufacturers about how our state can do more to encourage job growth and economic development. Legislative leaders including Sen. Witkos spoke about their visions to address the state’s economic issues and fiscal instability.

“Manufacturing has a significant multiplier effect on the state’s economy, and is a critical industry for our state. This event was a great opportunity to hear directly from business owners and workers about what our state can do better to grow jobs and support employers. I believe our state cannot continue looking towards tax increases as a solution to our financial problems. We have to pursue budgets that will bring stability without overburdening taxpayers so that we can encourage economic growth and opportunities,” said Witkos.

Manufacturing Innovation Day was hosted by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.
