HartfordState Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) recently met with two Waterford High School sophomores who will be representing New London county in Washington, D.C. this summer as part of the 4-H program. Mikayla Brucoli (left) and Elise Sperry (right) were selected to visit the nation’s capital to learn about legislation and leadership. But before their trip this summer, they stopped by the state Capitol to see government on the state level firsthand.

Both Brucoli and Sperry have attended 4-H summer camp and were chosen to be two of 18 students selected for the trip to Washington, D.C.

4‑H offers a variety of youth programs geared towards empowering young people to lead for a lifetime. Programs focus on many topics, from science and healthy living to citizenship and leadership skills.
