Somers to discuss issues with Groton voters

GROTON – State Sen. Heather Somers, R-Groton, will hold a coffee hour for interested citizens to talk about state legislative issues on Friday, April 28th, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at Puffins Restaurant, 169 Thames Street.

“We are facing major decisions in Hartford and I need to hear from the people of Groton and surrounding towns on how to get our economy growing and our state more effective,” said Somers. “Those who care about their future can have a direct impact on it by speaking up and challenging me.”

The coffee hour is free and open to Groton residents or any resident of the 18th Senatorial District that includes: Groton, Griswold, North Stonington, Plainfield, Preston, Sterling, Stonington and Voluntown.

Sen. Somers is the co-chairman of the Public Health Committee, vice chairman of the Environment Committee, Education and the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee. She is also a member of the Appropriations Committee, the panel responsible for drafting a state budget.
