It’s Time to Derail the Rail Bypass Proposal

February 5, 2017

Taxpayers can speak out against a new rail proposal by the Federal Railroad Administration that would damage the scenic and historic towns of southeast Connecticut.

The legislature’s Transportation Committee will conduct a public hearing at 12:30 pm. on Monday, Feb. 6 in Room 2E at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

A resolution considered at Monday’s hearing states, “That the General Assembly express its objection to the proposal by the Federal Railroad Administration to construct a bypass on the Northeast Corridor rail line through the towns of southeast Connecticut.” (www.cga.ct.gov/2017/TOB/h/2017HJ-00054-R00-HB.htm)

I believe this project would hurt Connecticut shoreline towns’ peaceful character and natural beauty.

Add your thoughts to the discussion and let the federal government know we will continue to make our voices heard.
