Be Heard About Treating Opioid Abuses

February 7, 2017

As Co-Chair of the state legislature’s Public Health Committee, I hope you will spread the word about an important public hearing our panel will hold on Friday, Feb. 10 at 10:30 A.M. in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Among the bills on the hearing agenda is House Bill 7010: An Act Concerning Opioids and Substance Abuse Disorders. (www.cga.ct.gov/2017/TOB/h/pdf/2017HB-07010-R00-HB.pdf)
The bill would require that no person be refused admission into a rehabilitation facility that treats people with substance use disorders solely due to the fact that the person was intoxicated or tested positive for the use of an illegal substance or opioid antagonist at the time he or she sought admission.

This is a much-needed reform in our public health system.

It can save lives.

You may comment in favor of the bill by: Sending an email to phtestimony@cga.ct.gov (your email can be as brief as you like).

Put “Support House Bill 7010” in the email’s subject line

Please share this information with others as we work together to combat the opioid epidemic.
