Senator Kissel Applauds Launch of Spirit Airlines at Bradley International Airport

January 26, 2017

HARTFORD, Conn. – Today Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) released the following statement regarding the announcement that Spirit Airlines will launch operations at Bradley International Airport beginning this Spring. Spirit will offer direct nonstop service to several destinations, including Myrtle Beach, Orland and Ft. Lauderdale.

“I applaud the efforts of both Governor Malloy and the Connecticut Airport Authority,” said Sen. Kissel. “Adding another airline to the mix will create more competition and ultimately Connecticut customers will reap the benefits of lower pricing.

Not only will this addition benefit customers trying to catch a plane south, but will help area businesses as Bradley continues to attract more travelers, said Sen. Kissel.”

Spirit’s first flights at Bradley will begin on April 27 with a daily, year-round route to Orlando and four-days-per-week, seasonal service to Myrtle Beach, a destination that is not currently served by any carriers at the airport. Daily, year-round service to Ft. Lauderdale will begin on June 15.
