Library Offers Food for Fines Program to Support the Monroe Food Pantry

food-finesThe Edith Wheeler Memorial Library will be offering a Food for Fines program through December 31 to help the Monroe Food Pantry meet increased needs during the cold winter months.

For each non-perishable item received the library will subtract 50 cents in late fines from the patron’s library card. The program will not apply to lost or damaged items.

For those who do not have fines on their card, the library will offer a raffle ticket for each non-perishable donation and at the end of the program a $20 gift card to Linda’s Story Time will be raffled off.

The Monroe Food Pantry is in need of the following items:

  • Juice
  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Jelly or Jam
  • Hamburger Helper
  • Egg Noodles
  • Rice
  • Mustard
  • Canned Potatoes
  • Canned Tomatoes
  • Chicken or Beef Broth
  • Cooking Oil
  • Canned Fruit
  • Baked Beans
  • Sugar and Flour
  • Syrup
  • Pancake Mix
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Salad Dressing
  • Coffee or Tea
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Baking Mixes
  • Snack Items
