A New Year Full of Promise for a Better Future from State Senator Toni Boucher

December 24, 2016

boucherLooking back, 2016 has been a year full of surprises. Everything around us seems to be changing. During this very special and holy season, there is so much that reminds us of the good surrounding us. This goodness is extended around the world by the most generous people on earth, such as Americans like you who donate their time and resources so others can have a better life.

In Connecticut, though many problems continue, we preserve and embrace and celebrate the many cultures that enrich our lives everyday.

If fact, if you look at your local community calendar, you will find a myriad of events celebrating the diversity in our state. This weekend there will be community caroling and menorah lighting throughout Fairfield County. There are Christmas services, art exhibits, ice skating lessons, and concerts. It is this spirit of coming together that I hope will carry forward into 2017.

On January 4th, we will head into a new legislative session with an 18 to 18 Republican and Democrat tie in the State Senate. This, and gains by Republicans in the House, bring new voices and create new opportunities to address the serious fiscal problems confronting lawmakers. It is with this renewed hope that I look forward to a productive year that will put our state on the path to a better, more sustainable future.

As we look forward to a new year of promise, I wish you and your family a Happy Hanukkah, a Merry Christmas, and all good things to come in 2017.
