Monroe Public Info Session on Route 34 Bridge Repairs

Please be aware of the following opportunity to learn about a local bridge replacement project in Monroe. The following information was provided by the CT DOT.

The Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed rehabilitation of the Route 34 bridge over Boys Half Way Brook in Monroe on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., in the Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Connecticut.

The proposed project consists of replacing the existing concrete slab with a new reinforced concrete slab. The roadway width will be increased to 34 ft., which will accommodate a 12-ft. travel lane and a 5-ft. shoulder in each direction. The replacement of the existing concrete slab will be performed utilizing signal controlled alternating one-way traffic operations over six weeks. Additional construction activities will be performed utilizing off peak lane closures before and after this six-week period.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2018 based on the availability of funding.

The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
