Enfield-On Monday April 11th, State Senator John A. Kissel presented the staff of “Here Wee Grow,” an Enfield preschool, with a proclamation from Governor Malloy officially making April 11th to the 15th the “Week of the Young Child” in Connecticut. Senator Kissel welcomed children to school and presented Phyllis Phelan, the director of Here Wee Grow, with the proclamation.

The Week of the Young Child is an annual event hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.

Senator Kissel was joined by his wife Cindy, who works at Here Wee Grow.

“All the experts tell us that the most important years of a child’s life are spent in preschool and elementary school,” said Senator Kissel. “It makes sense to take some time and thank the dedicated educators who devote themselves to shaping the minds of our young people.”
