Fasano Statement Part 2: “Connecticut residents need to start a fiscal revolution”

April 29, 2016

Hartford – Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement about new consensus revenue figures and a projected 2018/2019 deficit of $5.4 billion.

“According to new consensus revenue figures, our state’s out year biennial deficit has grown to a total of $5.4 billion. This is a direct result of the fiscal blindness that the Democrat majority has shown for the last six years. Never before has there been such a disconnect from the basic economic principles that could lead us out of this fiscal death spiral. Yet the Democrats continue to look towards budgets filled with one time revenue, money grabs and zero long-term structural changes to the way we budget.

“Connecticut residents need to start a fiscal revolution. It must start with the families who have been crushed by growing taxes and those who have been hurt by debilitating cuts to social services and mental health care. It must unite our families with our job creators who are being pushed out of this state every day by the instability of our economy. We need a revolution and it begins with each and every resident of this state who wants to see a better future for themselves and their children. There is always hope so long as there are people willing to fight for it. If you can’t change their minds, change the people.”
