Rep. Kathleen McCarty and Sen. Paul Formica on Dec. 18 rang the holiday bell for the Salvation Army outside the Waterford Wal-Mart to raise more than $2,350 for local families in need.

“What a wonderful tradition to be a part of,” said Rep. McCarty. “I’m so proud to have been able to help those who are less fortunate this holiday season, and I’m touched by the efforts made by our generous constituents who donated to this worthy cause.”

“We thank the people of southeastern Connecticut for their generosity in helping those in need,” Sen. Formica said. “Your donations will make a positive impact on people’s lives in our region. We also thank WalMart for playing host to these Salvation Army collections across Connecticut.”

Anyone who missed the event can still donate to the Salvation Army by visiting http://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/ and contributing a virtual gift to the red kettle.
