Help Veterans in Need This Winter

HARTFORD – State Representatives Tony D’Amelio (R-71) and Selim Noujaim (R-74), along with State Senator Joe Markley (R-16) and in cooperation with the Errera Community Care Center of the US Department of Veterans Affairs, today announced they will be hosting a Veterans’ Clothing and Personal Items Drive at Waterbury’s City Hall.

What: Veterans’ Clothing and Personal Items Drive
When: Tuesday, December 1st through Tuesday, December 15, 2015
Time: City Hall operating hours
Where: Waterbury City Hall, 235 Grand Street, Waterbury

A donation box will be set up in the lobby

All of the donated items will be delivered to the VA Medical Center in Newington and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven and distributed to Connecticut veterans in need.

Some of the needed items include:

CLOTHES: may include: medium to 3x-large t-shirts, new socks, new undergarments (men and women), jeans and pants (all sizes), shoes, boots, winter hats, gloves and gently used coats.

COMFORT ITEMS: New, unopened travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, shaving cream, disposable razors, baby powder, baby oil, deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, cotton swabs, sanitary napkins, face wash and toothbrushes. Other comfort items may include: lip balm, denture cream, denture cleaner, brush/comb, and nail file.

GAMES: Doodle art, checkers, word search, Sudoku, crossword puzzle books, etc.
