Kane, Berthel Applaud $$ for Watertown Volunteer Fire Department Company No. 2 Facility

October 7, 2015

Area legislators today applauded the state’s announcement of $200,000 to replace the roof and preform a door enlargement at the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department Company No. 2 facility.

“Every taxpayer dollar is precious, so when we invest those dollars we must make certain that those investments are prudent,” Sen. Rob Kane said. “This project is a wise, long-term investment in the town’s infrastructure which should benefit taxpayers for decades to come. We want the facilities which serve Watertown residents and businesses to be as safe and as efficient as they possibly can be. Congratulations to Company No. 2 and to town officials on this grant, and we extend our appreciation to the governor for recognizing and addressing this need.”

“Investing in infrastructure improvements is a wise use of grant money, particularly in a case like this one where inaction on a problem could lead to even bigger problems and greater costs down the road,” Rep. Eric Berthel said. “This grant will go a long way toward making sure firefighters at this company have a safe place to work–and one that’s appropriate for the equipment they need to protect us.”

The project is funded through the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program.
