State Needs to Prioritize Not Penalize Hospitals

September 22, 2015

Hartford, CT – Senator Scott Frantz (R-Greenwich) today released the following statement denouncing the administration for making deep budget cuts aimed at hospitals around the state, including a nearly $1 million cut to Greenwich Hospital. During the last two fiscal years the total cuts by the state to GH will now stand at $19.2 million.

“There was a promise made to hospitals by the state several years ago that they would be helped financially because healthcare for the people in this state is vitally important. Those promises have been broken time and time again by this administration. The cumulative effect of those cuts will result in job losses and restricted care for vulnerable patients. I urge my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to join Republicans in the call for a special session so that we may prioritize and restore these harmful cuts.”

People are being asked to add their signatures to a letter to the governor and legislators protesting the cuts at www.CareWeCanCountOn.org

Sen. Frantz said the public may contact Gov. Malloy’s office during business hours at 860- 566-4840. Sen. Frantz can be reached at 860-240-0474 or at [email protected]
