Sen. Witkos letter/ Waterbury Rep-Am – GOP legislators keeping close watch on Board of Regents

September 29, 2015

The Republican-American described Connecticut’s Board of Regents for Higher Education as “an ATM for bureaucrats” (Sept. 19 editorial, “More turmoil in the offing”). I have compared the board to a tapeworm that eats up more and more funds every day.

As the lead Republican senator on the legislature’s Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, I will continue scrutinizing the board, shining a light on its spending, and pushing for policy reforms to better protect taxpayers.

Republicans will continue to expose wasteful practices on the Board of Regents and throughout state government. We urge Republican-American readers to alert us to any waste they come across.
