Sen. McLachlan: Malloy’s “Misguided” Cuts Represent Nearly $7 M Hit to Danbury Hospital

September 21, 2015

Sen. Michael McLachlan (R-Danbury) today slammed Gov. Dannel P. Malloy for announcing deep budget cuts to hospitals across the state, including $6.88 million in cuts for Danbury Hospital.

“These misguided cuts will adversely impact the delivery and quality of health care services in greater Danbury,” Sen. McLachlan said. “There were other routes the governor could have taken to cut the budget, but he has once again gone after Connecticut’s hospitals. This cut to one of our biggest community assets in Danbury will be felt by vulnerable individuals and families across our region. How disappointing that the governor has made this choice. It is now up to Republicans and Democrats to work together to pick up the pieces and restore these cuts. I hope Democrats will heed the Republican call for a special session of the state legislature so that we can repair this damage as soon as possible.”

Sen. McLachlan said the public may contact Gov. Malloy’s office during business hours at 860 566-4840. Sen. McLachlan can be reached at 860 240-0068 or at [email protected] .
