A Proud Environmental Leader, Sen. Kelly 100% on Conservation Scorecard

September 25, 2015

Hartford, CT – Citing his leadership in helping to pass laws to protect Open Space, State Parks and Long Island Sound, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) named state Sen. Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) a Legislative Leader in its 2015 Environmental Scorecard.

An annual report by the CTLCV, the Environmental Scorecard rates legislators based on their voting record for key pieces of legislation. In Senator Kelly’s case the focus also included bills to support solar panel energy use and safer standards around the application of pesticides.

“Every legislator in our team of champions played a role in passage of key environmental bills this session,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “Many also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to block bills that would roll back our environmental protections.”

“I am proud to have earned this recognition from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, which is an advocate for our environment,” Sen. Kelly said.

The passing of the Long Island Blue Plan, was done with votes from legislators on both sides of the aisle.

“We are striking a balance in the commercial and recreational uses of the Sound while preserving a vital resource,” Sen. Kelly added.
