Letter to the editor as it appeared in the Torrington Register-Citizen

To the Editor:

“Taxes up here are getting outrageous and it’s not just Torrington, it’s the whole state.”

Those words, from Borgeson Universal Steering Components owner Gerald Zordan, should get the attention of every elected official in Connecticut. [“Borgeson Universal leaving Torrington for South Carolina,” Aug. 28 editing of The Register Citizen]

I also own a small business. In June, I joined with Republicans in opposition to the recently passed record-breaking state tax hikes. I voted “no” on the tax hikes because every day, I hear from residents of all ages and backgrounds who tell me taxes are too high.

Register-Citizen readers: contact your elected officials. Ask them how they voted on the tax hikes.

Republicans believe raising taxes year after year is not a recipe for success, and we will continue to shout that message until Mr. Zordan’s words are heard.
