Hartford – Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano met with a group of students from Wallingford, CT and Shanghai, China this week. The students are participants in the 2-year Junior Achievement (JA) international exchange program, JA Global Connection, sponsored by United Technologies Corporation. This summer, 20 high school students from Shanghai will work with local students in Wallingford to launch an international business idea. Next summer, the 16 Connecticut students – most from Wallingford’s Mark T. Sheehan and Lyman Hall high schools – will travel to China to complete the multi-year program.

“This exchange program is an incredible model for hands-on-learning and entrepreneurial development,” said Fasano. “It opens up doors for students right here in Connecticut and across the world and shows the true potential of international partnership. I applaud the program for its creative and expansive opportunities and I encourage the highly motivated student participants to revel in this unique experience and soak up all the skills and lessons they can get their hands on. This is the kind of real life experience we need to see more of! Congratulations to all participants and best of luck in their learning and business endeavors.”
