2nd Largest Tax Increase in State History is Headed Your Way

June 29, 2015

Frantz: “Once again the hardworking people and businesses in Connecticut will feel the hammer from Hartford.”

Hartford, CT – State Senator Scott Frantz (R-Greenwich) released the following statement today re: modifications to the $40.3 billion state budget for the next two fiscal years.

“Once again the hardworking people and businesses in Connecticut will feel the hammer from Hartford as they face an increase of nearly $2 Billion in taxes. There were no real changes to the budget in this special session. The majority party rearranged the portraits on the wall.

“This is the second largest tax increase in state history following the largest increase just four years ago of $3.6 billion. It punishes the working poor and employers, and it increases long term debt. I voted no on the first budget, and I voted no on this “second budget.” The bottom line is there is a deficit, and there will always be a deficit until the balance of power in Hartford is evened out.

“Sadly, other states will look at Connecticut in a new light. It is not the spotlight we want, nor should we stay in it.”
