Hartford, CT – State Senator Scott Frantz (R-Greenwich) and State Representative Mike Bocchino (R-Greenwich) hosted Alberto Larraguibel, the 2015 Greenwich Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year at the State Capitol this week.

17- year-old Larraguibel, affectionately known as ‘Chile’, was chosen among seven local outstanding youth for the honor. As the Youth of the Year, Larraguibel is recognized for his outstanding contributions to his family, school, Boys & Girls Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles, his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.

Youth of the Year encourages Club members to reach their full potential by achieving academic success, leading healthy lifestyles and contributing to their communities. Larraguibel will compete against other Boys & Girls Club members for the Connecticut Youth of the Year title and a $1,000 college scholarship. Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive.

The winner from the Northeast Region will go on to compete at the National Youth of the Year Celebration in Washington, D.C. in September.
