Fasano Says Republicans “Kept in the Dark” on Governor’s Transportation Panel

March 31, 2015

Hartford – Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement today regarding the Governor’s appointments to the Transportation Finance Panel.

The panel was first announced during Governor Malloy’s 2015 Budget Address during which he described the panel saying: “They will have a single, narrow goal: offering recommendations for a sustainable structure to fund transportation over the next 30 years and beyond. I will announce the members of this new body in the weeks ahead, after consulting with leaders in your caucuses.”

“Despite the governor’s words, my caucus was never consulted on the transportation commission or its members,” said Sen. Fasano. “We were kept in the dark. The panel announced today appears to be made up of mostly Democrats, and those who aren’t Democrats are inclined towards tolls or raising the gas tax. Where is the bipartisanship we were promised? Where is our seat at the table? My concern is that this group may be of like mind with the governor and predisposed.”
