Enfield Legislators Applaud Pre-School Funding Award

March 3, 2015

Area legislators are applauding Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s Mar. 2 announcement that Enfield will receive $280,000 in state funding to expand the availability of high-quality preschool in town.

The funding, expected to be available by the end of the year, will assist Enfield with capital expenses and operating expenses associated with expanding pre-k.

“Expanding access to pre-school for Enfield children is great news,” Sen. John A. Kissel said. “Enfield was one of just 14 towns to receive these funds, so we are very appreciative that the state is recognizing our needs.”

“This grant will allow an additional 26 children to attend preschool in Enfield and get a head start on their education. I am thrilled that Connecticut is on the path toward universal pre-k,” said Rep. David Kiner. “Investing in improving access to a high-quality education is just about the smartest investment we can make as a state. We have to make sure that our children are prepared to work and succeed in the rapidly modernizing global economy.”
