State Senator-Elect Tony Hwang to Ring Bell for Salvation Army in Newtown

December 10, 2014

With the holiday season in full swing, state Senator-elect Tony Hwang is pleased to announce that he will join community volunteers in Newtown to support the 124th annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

Volunteers, representatives of the Salvation Army, Hwang and state Rep.-elect J.P Sredzinski will be ringing the iconic Red Kettle bell outside Dunkin Donuts, 6 Queen St., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.

“From its humble beginnings as a San Francisco donation collection by Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee in 1891, the Red Kettle Campaign has grown into one of the most recognizable and important charitable campaigns in the United States,” the organization notes. “It provides toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round.”
