Sen. Fasano: “We still have a long way to go before we’re out of stormy seas”

December 18, 2014

Hartford – State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven), incoming Senate Minority Leader, released the following statement re: Connecticut Department of Labor’s monthly job market report including November 2014 data.

“I am very happy to see that Connecticut gained jobs, but the truth of the matter is Connecticut continues to seriously lag behind the rest of the nation,” said Fasano. “Back in May, 2014, the national economy finally recovered all 9 million jobs lost during the recession. But a rising tide does not lift all boats. Connecticut has yet to recover all jobs lost in our state and over 122,000 people remain unemployed.

“We have not been able to keep up with national improvements because Connecticut’s tax policies are wrong, the business policies are wrong and the attitude to the free market is wrong. We cannot over celebrate today’s numbers because we still need to bring change to Connecticut policies. We owe that to the thousands of people struggling to find work every day.

“While the governor may think ‘the ship has been righted’ I think we still have a long way to go before we’re out of stormy seas,” said Fasano.
