Sen. Art Linares on Friday sent state regulators a list of more than 500 Connecticut rate payers who want to see Connecticut Light & Power’s proposed service rate hike rejected.

The ratepayers had signed Linares’ anti-rate hike petition posted at www.senatorlinares.com .

“The rate payers in my district cannot afford a rate hike which could cost them $150 more a year,” Linares said in a Nov. 28 letter to the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). “As state senator, I represent 100,000 people in a region that stretches along the Connecticut River Valley from Portland south to Old Saybrook and Lyme. Thank you for considering these people when making your decision on this unaffordable rate hike.”

A draft decision from PURA is expected soon.
