Sen. Kane Sends Anti-Electricity Rate Hike Petition to State Regulators; Decision Expected Soon

November 28, 2014

Sen. Rob Kane on Friday (Nov. 28) sent state regulators a list of 325 Connecticut rate payers who want to see Connecticut Light & Power’s proposed service rate hike rejected.

The ratepayers had signed Kane’s anti-rate hike petition posted at www.senatorkane.com .

“The rate payers in my district cannot afford a rate hike which could cost them $150 more a year,” Kane said in a Nov. 28 letter to the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). “As state senator, I represent 100,000 people in the greater Waterbury region. Thank you for considering these people – and each person on the attached list – when making your decision on this unaffordable rate hike.”

A draft decision from PURA is expected in December.
