Avon – State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-8) joined community members, veterans and their loved ones at the unveiling of a new Veterans’ Wall of Honor on Friday, September 26. The ceremony took place at the Arden Courts Memory Care Community of Avon, and celebrated the community’s new memorial recognizing and honoring all local veterans and Arden Courts residents.

Senator Witkos greets Claire and Bob Galiette of Avon. Bob is the Chaplain for Avon VFW Post 3272 and a WWII Veteran.

“It is extremely important that we consistently honor and celebrate our local veterans. This new addition to the community is a constantly growing memorial to the service, sacrifice and bravery of the men and women who have protected and fought for our many freedoms throughout history. Arden Courts and VITAS have created something truly special here and I applaud them for their hard work.”

The Wall of Honor features plaques from each branch of service with the names of veterans who currently reside at Arden Courts. A television monitor in the center of the wall displays videos, photos, and stories about the local veterans named on the wall.

The Avon Wall of Honor is located at Arden Courts at 100 Fisher Drive. The event was co-sponsored by VITAS Innovative Hospice Care.
