Rep. Melissa Ziobron and Sen. Art Linares applauded the state’s Aug. 13 announcement that East Haddam is being awarded $791,210 for the Oak Grove Senior Housing Complex.

The East Haddam Housing Authority will make improvements to the Oak Grove Senior Housing Complex, a 36-unit complex, by replacing roofs, upgrading kitchens, providing ADA accessibility to bathrooms, and replacing windows and doors to improve energy efficiency.

“Oak Grove is a beloved local treasure, these upgrades will ensure that it stay this way and continue to provide top of the line services to our area seniors. I am pleased that the East Haddam Housing Authority was chosen to receive this grant so that it can make the appropriate and needed renovations to Oak Grove,” said Rep. Ziobron.

“We want seniors in East Haddam and throughout the state to have safe and accessible housing,” Sen. Linares said. “These upgrades will help many area seniors, and we appreciate the state’s attention to this issue.”

The funds come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program, which provides grants to eligible municipalities for economic development, affordable housing, community facilities and other revitalization projects. The program is administered by Connecticut’s Department of Housing.
