Connecticut State Sen. Joe Markley said the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Monday, that overturned forced dues to public employees unions, validates his decision and that of the Yankee Institute for Public Policy to challenge Connecticut’s law. The senator made his statements on CTTalking Podcast.

Much like Illinois, the case on which the court ruled, Connecticut has a similar law, whereby home healthcare givers were forced to pay dues to a public employees union, if their clients received some sort of government funding. He said Connecticut should now end such a practice, which became law under an executive order signed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. He expects the General Assembly to address the situation in next year’s new session, although he would like to see the law outright repealed.
