Linares, Ziobron: Improvements Coming for Bashan Lake Dam

Sen. Art Linares, East Haddam First Selectman Mark Walter, and Rep. Melissa Ziobron on June 17 toured the Bashan Lake Dam.

The State of Connecticut has approved $2.1 million to fund needed repairs to the dam and restore it to a safe condition.

“Bashan Lake is a true gem,” Sen. Linares said. “It is a destination for local families and visitors alike. This is an investment in public safety, and it is also an investment in future tourism.”

“This project is a tribute to the hard work and advocacy of the volunteers of the Bashan Lake Association,” Rep. Melissa Ziobron said. “I am grateful that these funds are going to benefit the folks who love the lake, but also the wonderful and diverse natural species that call it home. The extensive drawdown supported by lake residents should also combat some of the invasive species that are sadly becoming more prevalent across the state.”
