Sen. Rob Kane (speaking at podium) joined with Republican state legislators at a Mar. 27 press conference at the State Capitol to raise questions about the Democratic-controlled Appropriations Committee’s budget proposal.

Sen. Kane, who serves as Ranking Member of the committee, charged that the Democrats’ plan is full of accounting gimmicks and raises state spending.

Sen. Kane predicted that a new tax hike will come next spring — after this fall’s state elections. “This budget will mean a tax increase next year,” Sen. Kane said. “Guaranteed.”

Sen. Kane voted against the budget proposal and said that he will continue to fight to eliminate wasteful government spending.
