Sen. Rob Kane on Mar. 19 welcomed Woodbury resident Kent Suslavich (right) to the State Capitol. Suslavich, a Junior at Nonnewaug High School and Chapter Officer of the Ellis Clark School of Agricultural Science, has helped lead his Junior Men’s curling squad to victories this year against some of the best Junior men’s teams on the East Coast, including this year’s National Silver Medalist Junior Men’s Team. In preparation for the international Optimist U-18 Curling Competition, which will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia April 2-6, 2014, Suslavich visited the State Capitol to meet with Sen. Kane to collect an official State of Connecticut flag and State of Connecticut pins. With Suslavich as captain or “skip” of his U18 Junior Men’s team, Team Connecticut is one of only three squads from the United States competing in the event. This is the first time a Connecticut team has ever participated in the international Optimist U-18 Curling Competition.
