Hartford, CT – State Senator Toni Boucher (R-Wilton) joined her colleagues in honoring William F. Vornkahl III of Westport as he was inducted in the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. Vornkahl III served our country faithfully in the United States Army, and has worked tirelessly as the President of the Westport Veterans Council and as Chairman of the Veterans Day Parade.

“Mr. Vornkahl has sacrificed so much for his country. It was an honor to pay tribute to a man who exemplifies service to his community and country and who helps keep the memory of all Veterans alive,” said Sen. Boucher.

Vornkahl was presented with a citation from the Westport Delegation that read in part, “The General Assembly congratulates you on this achievement and offers its gratitude for your outstanding service to our nation and to the town of Westport.”

The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame was established to increase the awareness of the lifetime contributions of veterans after completion of honorable military service. Each year the committee selects at least 10 inductees from applications received from across the state and nation.

Hall of Fame members have been leaders in a variety of areas, such as arts, education, public service, volunteer activities, and community and business leadership to name a few. To be eligible for the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame the nominee must have served their country honorably in a branch of military service and continued to serve their communities, state and nation after discharge.

The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame is administered and sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Connecticut Military Department.
